LAST DAY!

So --

It's my last day here in Rome, sitting on the couch, waiting to go downstairs with my suitcase and go to the airport.

It is weird knowing tomorrow I will be back in the States, sitting in air conditioning, getting free bread and water at restaurants, and watching TV in English. It will be a culture shock. I really feel as though I've gotten used to life in Rome, and I've been able to reflect on the American lifestyle in ways I couldn't have before this trip.

THis trip has been amazing. Not only has my perspective of the world changed and grown, but I have met a group of friends that I will have for the rest of my life.

And I guess that's what I'll really miss about my time here -- my friends. My life here was full of excitement and adventure, and what made it so much fun was the people I got to share this journey with.

So, to everyone who has followed me through this online-diary, I miss you all and can't wait to see you!

And for the last time, CIAO!!!

SIENNA - FROM SALAMI TO D'UOMO

These are the pictures from florence. The first is us in this amazing church called Santa Croce. We climbed to the top of it and had the most amazing view of the whole city.

The next set is black and white pics from our hostel. Since we got the vibe that we were in a shady, creepy place, we took shady, creepy pictures. It just fit the mood. I think they're hilarious.

FLORENCE - FOOD

I had the best pasta of my life in florence. And it was only primo piatto! (First Course)

It was ravioli in a gorgonzola cheese sauce. THEY WEREN'T LIGHT ON THE CHEESE!

It had a somewhat crispy yet perfectly cooked texture, and the cheese sause was as thick as it should be. I mopped up with the entire bowl with freshly baked florentine bread!

Then I had steak. Enough Said.

Wax Museum and Ice Bar

Went to a Wax museum, reaally cool! Got a pic with our Prez!

Also pics from an Ice Bar, a bar made completely out of ice!

Even the cups were made out of ice! SO COOL!

Another Apple Sketch

Here's another apple - a little bit more complicated. Different angle, 2 light sources, and it's got a big bite taken out of it. Check it out! I tried even harder to focus on the tone.

Here's some pics from the Trevi fountain!

I threw a coin in in the second picture; its right after I threw it. You're supposed to throw the coin with your right hand over your left shoulder. The first coin means you'll come back to Italy; the second, that you'll find your true love here; and the third, that you'll get married and stay here.

Don't worry Mom, I only threw in one coin.

NEW SKETCHES

Today was a longgggg day on an excursion for my sketching class. I produced three pretty cool sketches. One was a group project; that's the one in color. For that one we had 3 other partners and each worked on the same drawing for 12 minutes. I used the charcoal for that one. The other two pictures, one is in charcoal (fountain) and the other is in Ink wash (india ink with pen and brush).

I'm trying hard!
